Genuine Interest is the best motivator

In life, although financial incentives often take priority over personal interests & passion, I have been privileged to be able to extensively invest my time & effort on what I enjoy…

My name is Vihan, & I’m a mechanical engineering graduate with an obsession (which some may call “unhealthy”) for motorsport, automobiles & intricate mechanical assemblies.

…if there’s a cog or gear, curisosity usually gets the better of me;)

Myself… described through a single project

Keen to learn, Quick to adapt

Regardless of my prior experience or level of understanding, I take up the work at hand simply driven by the motivation to produce a functioning & practical system.

Being thorough often proves to be the best learning experience.

Pushing the limit

The picture shown shows my wheel hub design with an integrated tripod housing. Find out more on the novel liner design.

The tripod housing doesn’t have to be integrated, neither do the walls have to be as thin as 2.8mm….

Extensive iterative optimization, with a safety factor of 1.1, & a grease-tight bearing assembly designed to fail at 1,000km of racing distance were much beyond the design goals that were requested. Designing at the limit is its own thrill.

Hands-on

In all of the projects I’ve done, I am often more motivated when the project allows me to produce a tangible output.

Be it a structurally-optimized sheet metal part, or a time-intensive wheel hub assembly, the anticipation of holding the finished product has always been motivation enough.

(And yes… this tiny spacer made from GCr15 bearing steel is the green part from the earlier CAD. Its 30 micron tolerance is essential for simultaneously eliminating the wheel’s axial play, & preventing binding under axial loads of up to 3000N)

Scrutineer. Analyse. Update.

It’s rare for a design to be considered “perfect”, especially in today’s context of continuous innovation & progress.

We gather our test results, feedback from various sources, & ALWAYS seek to further develop our designs & improve our understanding.
